The Roanoke Adult Hockey League is to support the adult hockey community in Roanoke, Salem, Lynchburg, Blacksburg, Smith Mountain Lake and the New River Valley. It is recreational no-check hockey league for men and women. The league consists of multiple divisions based on skill to make playing hockey fun from the ex-professional player to the beginner hockey legend.
The Roanoke Valley has a long-history of hockey in the South with the first professional team in 1967. The Virginia Lancers were an original ECHL team playing out of the Lancerlot in Vinton with its founder Henry Brabham still being recognized on the ECHL President’s Trophy. Today, area hockey fans cheers for the SPHL champion Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs playing out of the Berglund Center.
The Roanoke Adult Hockey League brings together players and traditions of the former Roanoke Valley Adult Hockey Association, Roanoke No Check League and the Lot C-League into area hockey community organized by Lancerlot Sports Complex.
